Keep Practising

Excerpts from the book " Don't Look down On the Defilements, They Will Laugh At You" - Ashin Tejaniya

Food for thought
  • To know reality you have to be courageous. If you wish to arrive at the truth you have to start meditating, to be aware of yourself. The first thing you need to acknowledge is that there are defilements in your mind. This is basic. We all want to be good and we therefroe tend to see and show only our positive sides. If we do not face the defilements we end up 'lying' to ourselves and others. If you want to change for the better you must know your negative sides. When you start seeing yourself in a realistic way and acknowledge both your good and bad qualities, you are doing well.
  • When your understanding of the true nature of things grows, your values in life will change. When your values change, your priorities change as well. Through such understanding you will naturally practise more, and this will help you to do well in life.
Keep Practising
Once you truly understand the benefits of the practice you will never stop practising; you will always keep it going wherever you are. When you are really able to apply the Dhamma in your life and start seeing the difference it makes, then the qualities of the Dhamma will become obvious. The qualities of the Dhamma will come alive for your. They will become really meaningful to you.
